Anyone who follows the mobile computer market will easily discover that it has changed a lot over the past decade. It is no longer limited to the business world, but portable computers are everywhere in school and at home, replacing the desktop computer with a portable computer, as it is easy to transport, and can be used to watch movies while you are lying in bed, or Carry it with you on the road while traveling to do your work on the go. The buyer will be surprised by the huge amount of choices when it comes to purchasing a laptop. However, you can arm yourself with a little research and knowledge, and you will be able to buy with confidence. Follow the steps below to learn how to choose the best laptop for your needs.

1- Determine first why you need it.

If you haven’t owned a laptop before, it might be a good idea to consider the potential benefits of owning one before you buy. Compared to a desktop computer, laptops have some advantages, which we list below:

  • You can take your laptop with you wherever you go, even outside as long as you take its charger with you.
  • Many laptops can do what we expect from most desktop computers, and most modern laptops are capable of doing all sorts of different tasks.
  • Laptops save space and are easy to move around. Making them great for small apartments, or for use in your dorm room.
  • Think about what you’ll be using it for. Since laptops have a wide variety of uses, this will help you focus when comparing models. If you primarily plan to surf the web or write emails, you’ll have very different needs than if you want to play games on the go or produce your own videos and music.
  • Set your budget. It’s important to know what your budget is before you consider making a purchase so that you’re not influenced by other people’s advice to buy something that’s beyond your means. There are a wide range of laptops available, and setting a budget will ensure that you enjoy the laptop you can afford, without being held back from upgrading later! You need to decide what’s important to you and how it fits into your budget.

2- Select the type of operating system you want.

There aren’t many options available to you when it comes to operating systems. The two main options are Windows and Mac, along with Linux.

To make it easier for you, follow the following:

  • Buy what you know. If you are familiar with a particular operating system, it will be easier to continue using it with its familiar interface than to try a new operating system. But don’t let your operating system decide for you every operating system and computer you buy.
  • Also, the type of software you need with the device contributes to determining the operating system. The office software package “Microsoft Office” means that you will buy a device that runs on the Windows operating system, and so on.
  • You can also consider other operating systems because they have features that may suit your needs if you get to know them well.

3- Decide what laptop size suits you

Consider which laptop size suits you best. There are different size/weight options for a laptop: notebook, laptop, hybrid laptop and tablet and large-screen home computer replacements, but their ultimate usability varies and can influence your choice, such as:

  • There are several important things to consider when it comes to laptop size: weight, screen size, keyboard layout, performance, and battery life. You’ll usually find that notebooks are the cheapest and most affordable option, while regular laptops require a balance of all the factors to suit your needs.
  • Portability is a big concern for laptops. Having a larger screen sacrifices weight and portability. Consider the size of your bag when looking at different laptops.
  • There are of course standard sizes like 13 inches, 15 inches or 17 inches for home computer replacements and comparing the weight will make it easier for you to choose between them.
  • Also, don’t forget the material the laptop body is made of, whether it is metal, plastic, or other plastics, and the way you use it or the medium in which the device is used helps you decide which one to choose.
  • Also, never forget that the appearance of the laptop has become considered an aspect of elegance associated with the person and his lifestyle, such as the watch, mobile phone, etc., so be sure to take this point into account when purchasing so that you do not face criticism for its appearance.

4- Check the technical specifications of the device.

Take a long look at the technical specifications of each laptop. When you buy a laptop, you usually focus on the internal components. This means that you want to be sure that the laptop has the specifications that you need.

  • Make sure of the type of processor (CPU). The better the quality and speed, and from well-known companies such as Intel and AMD, the better. Buy new models so that you do not lose your money on old processors that are not useful with the current technological leap.
  • Random Access Memory (RAM) is very important in running many applications and you must determine the appropriate memory size for your uses so that you do not encounter the problem of memory shortage later. I believe that 4 GB is a suitable minimum for laptop memory and the matter is different for notebooks, as it is much less.
  • Another important thing is the video card (VGA) responsible for displaying graphics and games.
  • The size of the hard disk is also important (HARD DISK) and is usually determined by the type, quantity and nature of the programs you intend to use, but in all cases the laptop must have a large storage disk that suits the size of your future uses.
  • In addition to the above, you need to make sure that you have a CD (DVD), a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth unit.
